Since its creation in the 1980s, Malteurop has exported malt to Germany. Germany, though it is the largest malt market in the European Union, has a malting industry that is unstructured, made up of many units with small capacities. Since the reunification of Germany, the sector has been undergoing a profound restructuring, and Malteurop has further strengthened its commercial positions with the creation, in 1993, of two new plants: one in Langerringen in Bavaria and the other in Rostock in the Northeast.
The acquisition of the malting plant in Heidenau in 2007 complements the base of industrial facilities of Malteurop Deutschland. The Group’s three German plants have a total capacity of 260,000 tons. Among the most recent and best-performing of the Group’s malting plants, they are ideally located to serve the entire German brewing industry, and prefigure the future direction of Germany’s malting industry.
Malteurop Germany produces basic malts — Pilsen and Munich — from two- and six-row barley, as well as wheat malt.
All the Malteurop Germany malting plants are GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), ISO 22000 (Food Safety), and ISO 50001 (Environment) certified.

To adapt as well as possible to the expectations and imperatives of brewers and respond to the varied demands of a diversified international clientele, Malteurop offers several modes of commercial collaboration, as well as consulting, engineering, and training services.
Working together: Malteurop also puts that philosophy into practice with its own suppliers, seed producers-breeders, storage operators, and carriers. For in fact all of them make important contributions to the proper operation of the barley value chain, in particular as regards traceability and food safety.
